I grew up in a kitchen filled with the sounds and smells of Indian cooking, mustard seeds popping, onions sizzling, and spice tins passed down with love.
Cooking wasn’t a lesson, it was just life. I learned by watching, by tasting, and by doing. At 16, I made a humble khichdi and entered it into a local Indian cooking competition… and won. That moment lit something in me not just pride in my food, but joy in sharing it.
Since then, I’ve spent over 40 years cooking Indian meals for my family, my community, and my students. I even turned that passion into a business MistryKitchen, where I sold homemade Indian curries made with real flavour and love.
But over time, I realised so many people wanted to cook Indian dishes, they just didn’t know where to start. The spices felt overwhelming. The recipes felt too long.
And it all felt too easy to get wrong.
That’s why I created Spice Tin Recipe Club. To help you feel the way I’ve always felt in the kitchen: calm, capable, and full of heart.
